PETROSTAR S.A. is the main research and engineering company for oil and gas industry in Romania.

The company was founded in 1949 as the sole design engineering institute of the Oil Ministry, and covers all activity in this field on the territory of Romania. By the early 1990s PETROSTAR was the only consultant for the Romanian hydrocarbon industry. Starting with 1991, the company was reorganized as a wholly private joint- stock company.
